Job losses, closures, and food shortages ravaged the poorest of our global community, many of whom already faced difficult circumstances.
Thankfully, with your help, we were able to respond quickly to this dire situation. We distributed COVID-19 relief funds through our direct family funding model, which deposits funds directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts. This allowed families to purchase essential groceries, sanitizers, and masks on a moment's notice.
Overall, we distributed emergency funds to 44 sites in 14 countries, including emergency food supplies for orphanages in Haiti and other extremely impoverished communities.
Just as the situation looked to be improving, the second wave of COVID-19 has hit. Cases in Kenya are skyrocketing, and other countries that have just begun to lift restrictions are locking down once again. Caregivers that were looking forward to returning to work are still without an income, resources are depleted, and the light at the end of the tunnel is nowhere in sight.
