Mohanadevi is a 42-year-old mother living with her husband and three children near our Tamil sponsor site.

Chalice critical needs - Tumour removal surgery for MohanadeviHer husband is the sole earner for the family with his work as a weaver, because Mohanadevi's youngest son, Jeya, has a disability and requires her full-time care. Jeya also receives the generous support of a Chalice sponsor.

For the past six months, Mohanadevi has been experiencing vertigo, tiredness, loss of balance, and headaches. Her doctors prescribed medications, but the symptoms persisted. They conducted an MRI which revealed a tumour on her cerebellopontine angle, a small but vital area of the base of the cranium that houses key cranial nerves and arteries. Her doctors diagnosed the lesions as Vestibular Schwannoma. They recommended immediate surgery to remove the tumour.

She was admitted to the hospital and underwent the operation two days later. After 24 hours of observation in ICU and another day's recovery, she was discharged and is now convalescing at home.

The hospital bills amounted to $4,445.94 CAD, far outside Mohanadevi's very humble means. Your support will help cover the costs of Mohanadevi's hospitalization, surgical fees, and medications, a great help for the family as she recovers her strength.
