After arriving to work in October 2018 Eugene, a social worker at our Kumbo site, developed pain and shortness of breath.
He was rushed to the hospital and treated but days later the same symptoms came back but doctors couldn’t find out what was causing his condition.
Nine months later Eugene has finally been diagnosed with cervicalgia with brachial neuralgia (pinched nerve in the spinal cord) radiating to the lower limb, which is preventing him from moving and working.
Eugene’s family is poor with no savings - his father is a retired civil servant and has very little pension and his mother is a farmer. Eugene has been sick from childhood and always in and out of hospital. The sponsor site has asked Chalice for $3,351.40 to cover the cost of his medical treatments to relieve his pain and allow him to return to work.
Please note that any funds that exceed the request will be used to fund other critical need emergencies that may arise.
