Funding Request: $4,807.20CAD

Critical Need: CNINK0824B

Dayamani is the mother of a sponsored boy named Chandu, who was born with physical and cognitive disabilities. Her husband, Mani, is a daily wage electrician. Dayamani, 32, devotes herself to Chandu’s home-based care.

Dayamani’s back surgery, Nellore, India

For a year, Dayamani, was experiencing a low back ache that was radiating to her right leg. Increasingly, her daily activities were aggravating the pain. She went to the doctor, where she was diagnosed with a slipped vertebra between her fifth lumbar and first sacral bone (known as L5-S1).

Her doctor told her that the way to alleviate her pain would be lumbar fusion surgery. But the surgery, and all its ancillary fees for the implant, anesthetist, surgeon, medicines, tests, and hospital stay, would come at a cost of $4,807.20 CAD.

With their humble income, Dayamani and Mani are unable to meet the expenses for the surgery. Seeing Dayamani is struggling with her pain and concerned it will impact her ability to care for Chandu, the Nellore sponsor site staff have requested to fund the lumbar fusion surgery.
