Due to the war, Ukraine is facing a serious rise in food prices this year; staple items have doubled or even tripled in price.
All sponsored families are feeling the impact of the conflict in their country. Due to the war, Ukraine is facing a serious rise in food prices this year; staple items have doubled or even tripled in price. During the COVID shutdowns, and now the war, many families have lost their jobs and incomes. The support of Chalice sponsors has been a lifeline during these times.
The food items most affected by shortages and inflation are bread, dairy, eggs, meat, cereals, sugar, and cooking oil. Families of sponsored children are vulnerable and need nutritional support.
The Pochaiv sponsor site is requesting financial assistance for families of 301 sponsored children to receive adequate nutrition. The families will receive a one-time transfer of funds to their sponsorship accounts to purchase a bulk supply of staple foods as they approach the winter months.
The sponsor site staff have selected the most food-insecure families from among the three Pochaiv sub-sites to be beneficiaries of the nutrition support funds. The total funds disbursed among the 301 families will be $9,235.59 CAD, which is approximately $30.68 CAD per family. The sponsor site team hopes that the families will feel the support of their sponsors and an increased sense of security as they face such uncertain times.
Budget in Canadian Funds: $9,235.59 CAD
Please note that any donations that exceed the request will be used to fund other community projects/programs that may arise.
